Pants Season!
I hate to say it, but it’s finally here: Pants Season. Every year there comes a morning when putting on a pair of shorts is no longer acceptable unless you have a wish to freeze to death. And on that morning, a choice has to be made: Jeans? Sweatpants? Leggings? It doesn’t really matter what type you choose, except for the fact it sets the tone for the rest of your Autumn wardrobe. Wear the wrong kind, and your vibe will be off for the next three months. Now, this doesn’t mean there’s only one right answer. Everyone’s perfect pair of pants is different, it’s about assessing what you want from this season of life and dressing to match that energy.
Personally, I spend four months dreading the first day of Pants Season, from the first day of Shorts Season all the way to September (the traditionally inaugural month of the season). Do I hate pants? Absolutely not, I would never go as far as to alienate an entire genre of clothing. Do I get sick and tired of them after being stuck wearing them for seven or so months? Yes.
Regardless, I was surprisingly very excited this morning when I was greeted with the weather app’s report of a brisk 56 ℉ morning. The inaugural pants for the year… drumroll please…. Jeans! I can confidently say I’ll be regressing to sweatpants within the next two weeks (if shorts weather doesn’t make a comeback), but I like to think I’ll carry the attitude of jeans-wearing with me throughout the next handful of months.
I know the jeans will be short-lived because I switched into the rattiest old sweatpants I own for the second half of the day. Versatility is key in Pants Season, jeans are a great choice in the morning when you’re ready to give the effort. They even translate well throughout late morning all the way to late afternoon, it’s nice to not look like an absolute goblin going to classes. On the way to dinner and studying are a different story.
It has been so nice to wear sweatpants and almost just feel lazy for a whole day with this weather rolling in and fall starting to become more apparent....
